Chen ‚wanted‘ Sicheng has been gone for two years. But in August he won his first Starcraft tournament and just skyrocketed through the Starcraft 2 World Ranking.

[wanted] is our Mover of the Month in the Starcraft 2 World Ranking. The Chinese won his first tournament ever and thus gained more than 900 ranks in the September ranking.

Wanted has a record of four tournaments but two of them are way in the past. He first competed in the chinese GPL league in 2014 and 2015, finishing as 17th and 25th respectively. Then he took a two year long break from competitive gaming until he tried to qualify for IEM Shanghai in July.

It didn’t go well as Wanted ended the tournament on rank 85. But the four meager points he acquired put him back into the Starcraft 2 World Ranking – on rank 1,076. But August was a good month for chinese players that aren’t in the limelight otherwise. The World Electronic Sports Games 2017 held several qualifiers throughout China. Each of them features a prize pool of about 900 dollar.

And Wanted won the tournament near his home town Guangzhou. The 224 points he got for this effort are way more than he ever got before. The boost was great: Wanted advanced to World Rank 168 this month, 908 ranks higher than in the month before. No one gained more ranks in September.

WCS Montreal qualifiers boosted a lot of players

The closest to him is [blysk]. The Singaporean played his best tournament in two years and ranked fifth at the WCS Montreal qualifier. World Rank 204, 303 ranks up from the previous month, is his reward. It’s the highest Blysk has been since September of last year.

The WCS qualifiers helped several others too. [expect] for example, second in Taiwan, rises 147 ranks to rank 103. [jig], ninth at the North American qualifier, jumps 60 ranks to his new career high on rank 200. You can see all the movers of the month in the infograpic above.
