Vici Gaming just launched their new B-Team Vici.P – which stand for Vici Gaming Potential. The new team features four rookies and Xu ‚Lin‘ Ziyang who is the 88th best player in the world right now. But what are their chances compared to other B-teams in the past like Virtus.Pro Polar, Newbee.Y or LGD.CDEC?

Virtus.Pro Polar passes its main team

[asus.polar], formerly known as Virtus.Pro Polar is by far the most successful B-team in Dota 2 history. Founded in September 2014, it took [illidan] and his teammates just a few months to pass their main team [virtus.pro] in both the Dota 2 Team World Ranking and the strength ranking. In December they signed former [natus vincere] player [fng] while losing both [goblak] and [dkphobos] to the Ukranians. The former B-team of Virtus.pro even attracted his own sponsor and changed its name.

LGD.CDEC became an own team

[lgd.cdec] had a similar success story: Formed in May 2014, [maybe] and his teammates became so successful that they left [lgd gaming] and created their own brand and team, [cdec gaming]. Though still far less successul than the main team, [cdec gaming] is climbing up the World Ranking and right now considered one of the 30 best teams in the world.

Tongfu.Wanzhou switches from amateur to professional

Another success story is the team of [tongfu.wanzhou], created in October 2013. The chinese B-team of [tongfu] is not very active in major tournaments but recently convinced the leadership. Tongfu.Wanzhou became the main team of [tongfu], while a new amateur team was formed.

Newbee.Y still waiting

These are steps that [newbee.y] still has to take. The B-Team of the defending champions of The International, [newbee]. Their amateuer squad is mostly unkown outside of China, though they achieved a notable 22nd place at the latest i-league season. Newbee.Y was created in October 2014, so they still have some time.

And Vici.Gaming.P

So what may the guys of [vici gaming.p] achieve? Well it sure was a smart move to sign [lin] as a captain for the team. He is an experienced player who was part of four professional chinese Dota teams already. Their first tests will be the chinese qualifiers for ESL Frankfurt. It’s ridiculous to expect them to gain a spot in the main tournament – but the qualifiers will show their true potential.
