ASUS ROG Dreamleague Season 2 Semifinals

Five reasons why the ASUS ROG Dreamleague finals are going to be awesome

When you tune in for ASUS ROG Dreamleague this weekend, you are going to see the best team in the world, its nemesis and two record setting russian rosters. Here are five reasons why this is an awesome tournament.

ASUS ROG Dreamleague Season 2 Semifinals

You’re going to see the currently best team in the world

[evil geniuses] is at the height of their power right now. They top the World Ranking by 5,000 points. This year alone the Americans won three global tournaments with more than $100,000 in prize money. You can’t compete with that, can you?

[cloud 9] has beaten [evil geniuses] over and over

In two preliminary rounds, [cloud 9] won four out of five matches against [evil geniuses]. Only one of these matches lasted shorter than 30 minutes which proves how close they were nonetheless. And in the first season of Dreamleague in June, [cloud 9] was better than [evil geniuses] too. [cloud 9] was second, [evil geniuses] ninth.

Each team is on the top of its play right now

There is no team that „has been good years ago“ or that „qualified by an easy grid“ in these semifinals. All four teams are on the highest positions in the World Ranking that they have ever been – except for [virtus.pro] who were 12th once and now dropped to 14th. But [evil geniuses] is first, [cloud 9] seventh and [virtus.pro polar] 59th (in their first appearance in the World Ranking).

There have never been two teams of the same organization in the semifinals of a global tournament

[virtus.pro] and [virtus.pro polar] have made history in a lot of ways already in this tournament. But the most astonishing thing is that there have never been two teams of the same organization in the semifinals of a tournament with more than $100,000 in prize money. Ever!

[virtus.pro] is the second russian team ever to make it to the semifinals of a global tournament

The last russian team in the semifinals of a global tournament (more than $100,000 in prize money) was [team empire] half a year ago in the season 1 of Dreamleague. They also were in the semifinals of Star Ladder Star Series Season 9 in April. No other russian team has ever made it so far – which also marks a new career-high for [virtus.pro] of course.
