The ASUS ROG Dreamleague finishes its group stage this weekend with twelve amazing matches of the best Dota teams in the western hemisphere. Here’s what you will miss if you don’t tune in.
These twelve matches will make your Dota-weekend worthwile. Besides the high level of gameplay you are about to experience, you can watch all the matches of World Ranking leader [evil geniuses] and [cloud 9] who haven’t played any matches in the group stage yet.
Alliance might drop out as last
This will be even more exciting as [alliance] hasn’t won any of their previous four matches yet – though three of them ended in a tie. The swedish team is on the last place in the group ranking right now, which means, they would have to play in another double elimination bracket for a spot in the finals.
At the top we got [4 anchors + sea captain] with one win and four ties. They play their last matches against [evil geniuses] and [cloud 9] today so it would be surprising if they remain on one of the top2-spots which guarantee a spot at the offline finals. Same applies to second-placed [virtus.pro polar] and third placed [mvp phoenix] who also have yet to play all the favourites.
Team Tinker to challenge the Americans
So who can challenge [evil geniuses] and [cloud 9] in the group phase? Probably only [team tinker]. The newly created team started with a win and a tie and is currently fourth. The last team, [virtus.pro] already lost two matches before playing the favourites.
Asian teams canceled participation
The best two teams of the group phase qualify directly for the offline finals. The remaining four team battle for two additional spots in a double elimination bracket. The finals will be played next weekend at Dreamhack Winter in Jonköping, Sweden. The asian teams [lgd gaming] and [lv gaming] who originally qualified for the group stage as well had to cancel their participation due to visa issues. The finals at Dreamhack have a prize pool if currently $107.861.
