Gerzegorz ‚MaNa‘ Komincz is the best european player. It’s safe to say that because on the weekend he won a tournament titled „Who’s the best european?“ It’s obviously something to make fun off, especially since Jens ‚Snute‘ Aasgaard and Patrick ‚Bunny‘ Brix couldn’t attend, but nevertheless it made him 2.500 dollar richer.
[playerbox_mana] And for sure it wasn’t an easy task for [mana] to win the tournament. It consisted of 16 players, half of which had qualified before. The prize pool was crowdfunded.
The tournament began with a group stage of four groups with four players each. [mana] and his future opponent in the finals [lilbow] were the ones to make it through this stage without losing a map. But [mana] couldn’t continue this streak in the playoffs. He lost one map to each [marinelord] and [demuslim] and was down 2-3 in the best-of-seven-finals against [lilbow], but came back in the last two maps.
[lilbow] took a rather quick route through the bracket, beating [pig] by 2:1 and [welmu] by 3:0. The Finnish lost the match for the third place to [demuslim]. The British finished top 3 for the first time this year.
[mana] and [lilbow] both met in the qualifier of the tournament as well – the French beat [mana] by 2:1 knocking him out of the tournament. But [mana] got invited due to his performance later.
For two players the tournament was their debut in a major competition: [inzane] and [yunga] had never competed at such a level before. Both dropped out in the group stage though – [yunga] at least won a map against [pig] but they had earned their place in the qualifiers. [yunga] for example defeated [ptitdrogo], [majestic] and [lillekanin].
