TNC Gaming is the best team of the first quarter of 2017. The Dota team from the Philippines leads the ranking ahead of all the favourites.
TnC Gaming is the best team of the first three months of Dota this year. The team from the Philippines gathered 8,960 ranking points, more than any competitor. The lineup around Raven and sam_H benefited from winning the World Electronic Sports Games in January, the highest paying Dota tournament of the year so far. Additionally TNC secured a third place at the SL i-league Season 3. Their efforts show in the Dota 2 World Ranking as well: TNC improved from rank 36 to 18 from January to April. It’s the best rank the team ever had.
OG played few, but impressive tournaments in the first quarter
The favourites all rank up behind TNC. DigitalChaos is the second best team of the first quarter. The team of MoonMeander won ESL One Genting and showed good efforts at both Dota Pit League and SL i-league.
OG is third in the quarter ranking but their results are impressive as always. The team only played three major tournaments and never finished worse than third. OG won Elimination Mode 3.0, was runner-up at Dota Pit and third at SL i-league.
Chinese teams barely make the list
Team Liquid and Evil Geniuses complete the top5 of the list. After them the points drop a little. 2,000 points behind is Cloud 9 on rank 6 of this quarter. With its new danish linuep the team played a lot of tournaments (nine to be precise) with the second place at WESG as their best performance.
The otherwise much stronger chinese teams follow on rank 7: Wings Gaming and World Ranking leader Newbee share the spot. Wings best effort was the third place at ESL One in their home country. Newbee was runner-up of the tournament but didn’t play many more events between January and April.
