The first quarter of 2015 is over, 25 Dota 2 tournaments have been played – and here are the teams that were most successful in them.
1. [team empire]
The Russians improved from rank 10 to 4 in just three months – mainly by winning the Star Ladder Star Series Season 11 in January and being the runner-up of the Major All Stars Dota 2 Tournament. At the Asia Championships they disappointed however with the 24th rank.
2. [invictus gaming]
The chinese team improved a lot with [faith] and [burning] joining the team. They won the Major All Stars in March and had a couple more good results like a 5th place at i-league Season 2 and a seventh place at the Asia Championships.
3. [lgd gaming]
LGD Gaming was the second best team in the world in 2013 and now they are back to achieve similar things. They won the i-league Season 2 in January and were ninth at the Asia Championships.
4. [evil geniuses]
The uncontested leaders of the Dota 2 Team World Ranking won the Dota 2 Asia Championships, the most prestigious and best paying tournament in the first quarter. But aside from that they just finished one more tournament (5th at Dota 2 League Season 5) and thus didn’t climb higher in this list.
5. [asus.polar]
There has been some coming and going at Asus.Polar recently but that didn’t effect the tournaments in the first quarter. The former B-team of [virtus.pro] was runner-up at both Star Ladder Star Series and Dota 2 League Season 5 in January.
6. [ninjas in pyjamas]
The Ninjas in Pyjamas are without a doubt one of the hottest european teams at the moment. They enlisted in the Team World Ranking in February for the first time and have climbed to rank 23 since. Their best efforts were two thirds places at the Star Ladder Star Series and the Major All Stars Tournament.
7. [vici gaming]
Vici Gaming is the second best team of the Dota 2 Team World Ranking but in the first quarter of 2015 they lacked results. This is mostly due to the fact that they only competed in three tournaments – the high paying ones: [vici gaming] was second at the Asia Championships, third at i-league and ninth at Star Ladder Star Series.
8. [hypergloryteam]
The HyperGloryTeam was a surprising runner-up at i-league in January and made a good seventh place at the Asia Championships. In the Team World Ranking the Chinese improved from rank 35 to 21 by this.
9. [lv gaming]
The fifth chinese team in this list won the Dota 2 League Season 5 in January, which was their only tournament in three months – and their second major title in just six tournaments played ever.
10. [hellraisers]
The ukranian HellRaisers are one of those teams who are rarely seen in the big finals but play a lot of tournaments and are always to be feared. They competed in seven tournaments from January to March and won the joinDOTA Masters XVI. Concerning the major competitions they were seventh at Star Ladder Star Series and ninth at both i-league and Asia Championships.
