Team Secret and Evil Geniuses perfectly dominate the Dota 2 Team World Ranking. No team is even close to them – but some might be soon.
[team secret] leads the Dota 2 Team World Ranking once again but [evil geniuses] is yawning at their heels. The Americans caught up a little in January due to their second places at both Star Ladder Season 13 and the MarsTV Dota League – whereas Secret slightly disappointed twice. [puppey]s team finished the Star Ladder as fifth and MarsTVs league as seventh. Not enough for the best Dota team in the world.
But both Secret and EG lead the World Ranking dominantly. It’s more than 13,000 points to the third placed [team empire]. That’s more than two global tournament titles. But maybe it isn’t even Empire or fourth placed [lgd gaming] that’s the most important predator of the leading teams.
EHOME, OG and Team Liquid chase the leaders of the Dota 2 Team World Ranking
[ehome.cn] has emerged just recently. They not only were the first chinese team to win a global tournament since May, they furthermore won three (!) major tournament in just about a month: The Dota 2 Radiant & Dire Cup (December 27), the Shanghai Dota 2 Open (January 3) and the MarsTV Dota League (January 31). Thus, Ehome improved to rank 7 in the World Ranking. This their best since August 2012.
The other challengers are [og] (rank 12) and [team liquid] (rank 14). OG, who is only participating in major tournaments so far, has never been worse than fourth at any tournament they attended. Liquid has only once been worse than fifth – at the Frankfurt Major.
February is the last month before the next big major in Shanghai this time – and OG, Ehome and Liquid are the forces to challenge Team Secret and Evil Geniuses there.
Team Spirit and Elite Wolves catch up
If we look a bit further down in the Team World Ranking we can see [newbee] gaining some ranks as well as their B-team [newbee young] – which has almost caught up with the main team by now. The biggest winners rank-wise this month are [slayers of gods] (+154 ranks) and greek [ad finem] (+121). Also, [elite wolves] and [team spirit] gained ranks and make it into the Top70 now.
