Two-times-winner Polt faces his chinese and mexican challengers MacSed, Courage and MajOr

Two times winner of WCS America, Choi ‚Polt‘ Seong Hun, starts his season tonight against chinese rookie Zanqi ‚Courage‘ Qian, while his countryman Xiang ‚MacSed‘ Hu challenges mexican Terran Juan Carlos ‚MajOr‘ Tena – while Polt seems set for the Round of 16, who may follow – or even stop him?

  • MacSed is even in PvT lately so he can’t gain confidende from that going into the match against MajOr, but the Mexican struggles with TvP as well

Defending champion Hyun enters the stage of WCS America tonight to face Jaedong, Jim and Heart

The defending champion Ko ‚Hyun‘ Seok Hyun enters the stage in WCS America tonight to survive the first round – probably together with his world-class countrymen Lee ‚Jaedong‘ Jae Dong. But Hyun has to face his kind of nemesis Jin ‚Jim‘ Hui Cao first – and maybe even Kim ‚Heart‘ Min Hyuk can disturb the force.

  • In May alone Hyun is 10:1 in ZvP
  • Both Jim and Heart are rather weak in matches against Zergs lately – not the best omen for tonight
  • Jaedong has to recover from a disappointing last season where he dropped out in the Round of 32 – before that he was runner-up at 2013 WCS America Season 2, Season 2 Finals and the Global Finals
  • Hyun is the defending champion of WCS America – before that he never reached the Round of 8 in any WCS season
  • Don’t underestimate Jim: He was fifth in 2013 WCS America Season 2, beating [nestea] and [alicia]

Statistically, Oz will win WCS America, but he has to beat puCK, viOLet and qxc first

The WCS career of Kim ‚Oz‘ Hak Soo reads as follows: 17th, 7th, 3rd, 2nd. So what is left to gain? But before the Korean can win WCS America, he has to survive in the Round of 32 tonight against Brandon ‚puCK‘ Qual, Kim ‚viOLet‘ Dong Hwan and WCS-rookie Kevin ‚qxc‘ Riley. We already saw some favourites fall early this season…

So might Sebastien ‚FireCake‘ Lebbe be an exception tonight when fighting Son ‚StarDust‘ Seok Hee, Kang ‚First‘ Hyun Woo and Jon ‚BabyKnight‘ Andersen in WCS Europe? Stats and trivia of Group E

Sebastien 'Firecake' Lebbe

Interview with Firecake: „I leave every ZvT and ZvZ in ladder“

In an all-Protoss group, Sebastien ‚Firecake‘ Lebbe is the lonely Zerg tonight in WCS Europe. But as he tells in our interview, he has specially prepared for this situation: „I leave every ZvT & ZvZ in ladder in order to play only Protoss.“

[playerbox_firecake] How did you prepare for the Round of 32?
Well, I played a lot. Since I know my group, I leave every ZvT & ZvZ in ladder in order to play only Protoss and I have to thank my friends and my team to accept to train with me. I hope it will be enough.

How do you feel going into the matches?
It is going to be very tough. I believe I got the strongest group with three very high-level Protoss including two top Koreans. [babyknight] is a very dangerous Protoss, playing for the best French team. [first] has played for a long time for IM and [stardust] won a Dreamhack. I have so much respect for them and I wish them good luck. I will need to make a surprise. I am able to do it.

What are your chances to advance into Round of 16?
It is the third time i qualified for WCS Premier League Europe. This is a very high performance so i guess i am not so bad. I feel confident because i am able to deal with late game in ZvP. If i can deal with the 2 or 3 base all-ins, I will be fine.

Who will be your hardest opponent in the group and why?
I believe [stardust] has the strongest all-ins.

What are your goals for this season?
Advancing into Round of 16.

Bomber to face his countrymen CranK and NesTea tonight in WCS America, but MaSa first

Yesterday, the best player on paper didn’t make it to the Round of 16 but once again i dare to problaim Choi ‚Bomber‘ Ji Sung as the huge favourite for tonights WCS America group B. However he faces Canadian Maru ‚MaSa‘ Kim first whose TvT is his best matchup. And former GSL-champion Lim ‚NesTea‘ Jae Duk will be as hard to beat as Choi ‚CranK‘ Jae Won – so it might be more exciting than it looks once again.

  • [crank] and [nestea] also never played against each other in a tournament
  • Crank is now 1-4 in PvZ including losses against on paper weaker opponents like [hendralisk] and [starbuck]
  • Nestea however was knocked out in an all-Protoss-group last season so ZvP is not his best matchup either
  • Bomber won the 2013 WCS Season 2 Finals and was fifth last season
  • Crank dropped out in Ro16 for three seasons in a row
  • Nestea played all seasons of WCS America and made it to the Ro16 twice, but never further
  • Masa however plays his second consecutive season, last time he dropped out with only one map won
Marc 'uThemal' Schlappi Interview

Interview with uThermal: „I would be really embarrassed if I would lose every single map“

In his first season of WCS Premier League, Marc ‚uThermal‘ Schlappi got three really tough opponents to beat. Therefore his goals are set very low, as he tells in this interview: „I just want to win one map.“ But the past days have shown that more is possible for dutch underdogs this season.

[playerbox_uthermal] How did you prepare for the Round of 32?
I don’t really prepare for people, i don’t like playing custom games that much either, so i just play the same amount of ladder as usual.

How do you feel going into the matches?
Not very good, my shape in both TvT and TvP is really bad at the moment, I don’t really have any strategies i can win with either.

What are your chances to advance into Round of 16?
On a good day, maybe 1%? haha

Who will be your hardest opponent in the group and why?
[mvp] for sure, it seems really hard to beat people that are better than you in TvT. In TvP and TvZ it is alot easier to make upsets, beating [mvp] is probably close to impossible for me.

What are your goals for this season?
I just want to win one map. I think it looks really silly when people qualify and then lose 0-4. So i would be really embarrassed if I would lose every single map.
