Just five tournaments after its creation, the Secret Team is already among the best ten teams in the world – at this rate the way to the very top will be a short one. Especially since they took away players from the leading team.
The [secret team] is the most hyped team recently and in December they proved it. The team of [puppey] and [kuroky] won both XMG Captains Draft 2.0 and Dota Pit League Season 2 beating their old team mates [natus vincere] in the process. Thus it took the [secret team] just five tournaments to get into the top10 which makes them by far the most successful team of the past months. At this rate and with the addition of [arteezy] and [zai] it will just be a matter of time before they reach the very top.
[evil geniuses] defend the top – [natus vincere] disappoints
That’s still the place of [evil geniuses] who defended the top spot in January. The american team competed in three major tournaments but wasn’t able to secure a final spot in any of them. Their best effort was a fourth place at the Summit 2.
This tournament was won by [vici gaming], marking their third championship at a global tournament (more than $100,000 prize money) this year. Still, the gap to [evil geniuses] is a big one but they also widened the gap to the lesser ranked teams like [natus vincere], who disappointed by being only 19th at The Summit 2. Their old rivals [alliance] even dropped to rank 5 in the World Ranking, their worst rank since June 2013.
[cloud 9] and [newbee] on the rise
[cloud 9] is the team to fill the gap at rank 4. The country-wise mixed team was runner-up at The Summit 2 and thus peaks in their team history. Just ten months after creation, [cloud 9] is the fourth most successful team in the world – a good example for [secret team].
As for the strong chinese teams, only [newbee] could improve by winning the ECL Autumn. Both [team dk] and [invictus gaming] dropped in the ranking due to lineup problems.
