Dota World Ranking Teams October 2016

OG remains the best Dota team in the world ahead of Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid

OG is still on top, Team Secret falls deep and four european teams make their mark: See what’s new in the Dota 2 World Ranking in October.

Dota 2 World Ranking Teams October 2016

[og] is leading the Dota 2 World Ranking once again by a huge margin and with little to no effort. The team of [bigdaddy] didn’t play a single tournament in September, mostly due to the TI-aftermath and the many many transfers during this month. That also reflected in a lack of really high paying tournaments.

Great month for Vega Squadron and Kaipi

Some things changed though in the top ten. While [evil geniuses] is still second and [team liquid] third, [mvp phoenix] stole the rank of [team secret] who descends to rank 5 now. This is still great but somehow the lowest the team has ever been since May of last year. On the other hand it’s a new high for MVP. Strangely enough that two of Phoenix former members – [mp] and [forev] – now play for Team Secret. We’ll see how that works out.

Speaking of working out: The month was great for [vega squadron] and [kaipi]. Both won the EU Main Qualifier for the World Cyber Arena, which boosts Vega to rank 6 – their highest ever – and Kaipi by 31 ranks to number 32. That’s a new record for the team of [bone7] since Kaipi was re-founded last year, but they were higher in their first run with rank 16 in November 2013. Back then we had players like [eternalenvy], [pieliedie] and [arteezy] fighting for Kaipi. Oh what a squad that was!

Execration is one of the big winners

The third big winner of September is [execration]: The Philippines won the MPGL Southeastasian Championships, which had a whopping 50,000$ in prize money. MVP Phoenix, [mineski] and [fnatic] (now without [midone], followed them. Execration thus gained eight ranks and is the 26th best Dota team in the world now. That’s also a new personal record, but just a few days later, the team also had to undergo some changes, so we’ll see if they can continue their good run.

Among the skyrocketing teams this month in the Dota 2 World Ranking are [power gaming] (63 ranks up to #111) thanks to their best ever performance at the MPGL, [escape gaming] (+43 to #70) thanks to their third place at the WCA Qualifier, the newly formed [mvp aegis] (+37 to #107) who repeated their July-victory at the MSF – The Creep tournament and [comanche] (+36 to #100) who won the M.Video Dota2 Open and were twelvth at the WCA Qualifier for Europe.

Jerax and Matumbamans first team leaves the Dota 2 World Ranking

We also have a sad goodbye: [4 anchors + sea captain] leaves the Dota 2 World Ranking this month due to their 12-month-inactivity. The team was the career starter for Finlands best players [jerax] and [matumbaman] (now playing for Team Liquid and OG respectively) and reached rank 24 at their peak. The Anchors third place at the Esportal Dota League in July of 2015 was the their best effort.
