The Dota Pit League Season 4 had very special LAN finals this weekend. Behind the surprising winner, two more teams impressed.
Do you remember the last time that Natus Vincere was in the semifinals of a major tournament? Hardcore fans do of course. But for everybody else, it was at the ASUS ROG Dreamleague Season 3 LAN Finals in June 2015 – nine months ago. Back then Na’Vi beat Alliance to make it to the Grand Final where they lost to Virtus.pro.
Now, Natus Vincere made an impressive comeback at the Dota Pit League LAN finals this weekend: In the qualifiers Dendi and his new teammates had already beaten Vega Squadron and Team Spirit to even get to Split in Croatia. And then they defeated Shanghai Major Champion Team Secret there and lost just 1:2 in a close match to Evil Geniuses – arguably the two best teams in the world right now.
Na’Vi impressive at Dota Pit League, but unimpressive in Qualifiers
But as impressive as it is, it will be some time until the team will be able to repeat these results. They dropped out of the ESL One Manila Qualifiers as well as in the Qualifiers for the WePlay Dota 2 League. Na’Vis next best chance are the qualifiers for EPICENTER which is held at the end of May.
Complexity Gaming play their best tournament ever
Another personal record was set by already mentioned compLexity Gaming: The Americans who also amazed at the Shanghai Major underlined that they are in great shape. Being third at the Dota Pit League is their best effort ever. By the way, the fifth place at the Shanghai Major two weeks ago was their most successful tournament until then too. ESL One Manila next month will be the next chance for swindlemelonzz and his teammates to get even better.
