Some underdogs who survived yesterdays round of 16 at the HomeStory Cup X have the golden opportunity today to earn a lot of money and a lot of points for the World Ranking – and a foreigner is still in the competition.

Flash vs Snute

Though [flash] may be a living broodwar-legend, [snute] has achieved far more in Starcraft 2. Taeja vs Hyun

This is by far the best match of this round and would have been a worthy final. [taeja] is a former leader of the World Ranking while [hyun] is at the peak of his power at the moment. It’s the remake of the final of the HomeStory Cup VIII which was played exactly 364 days ago. Back then [taeja] dominated [hyun] and won 4:0.

PartinG vs Jaedong

The duel of two oldschoolers: [jaedong] was one of the legends of broodwar and is fairly successful now in the sequel. [parting] used to be one of the best players in the world but hasn’t won any tournament for more than a year. Still the winner of this match is able to win the whole tournament because…

TY vs KangHo

… two complete underdogs fight for the last spot in the semifinals. [ty] and [kangho] were the least ranked players out of all contestants in the round of 16 but managed to survive the last group phase. [ty] beat both [snute] and [mana] flawlessly while [kangho] defeated [tlo] and [hasuobs] and lost to [flash]. For both it’s the great opportunity to achieve their best results ever in a individual tournament ([ty]) or at least for more than a year ([kangho]).
