2015 offers the chance for a lot of young players to break through, since the new WCS system allows for more european and american players to prove themselves on the highest level. Here are the seven players most likely to benefit from that.
„Young“ players are defined as 17 years or younger for this article.
[maru]
[maru] has been one of the best players about a year ago, especially after winning the 2013 WCS Season 2. Since then he has been a little off the radar though being a consistent player in the last years Proleague season. He missed the qualification for the first season of Code S but you can see him at Starleague.
[heromarine]
The young German [heromarine] already qualified for the Challenger League of WCS for the third time recently. Right now he is the second best german player in the World Ranking of might even survive the Challenger League for the first time and prove himself among the best players outside of Korea.
[starbuck]
If you beat [bly], [welmu] and [happy] in a row and qualify in such a manner for the WCS Challenger League, i guess there is no doubt that [starbuck] belongs in this list. The 17 year old Slovenian was the second best player of the Acer TeamStory Cup last year and didn’t show up much since then – seems he didn’t lose any skill in the meantime.
[serral]
[serral] knows what it’s like to play in WCS Premier League as he already qualified for the last one. This time he misses the Challenger League yet but apart from that the young Finn is on the rise.
[gungfubanda]
Just recently [gungfubanda] was runner-up at the Fragbite Masters 3 losing only to [mma] in the finals. Before he defeated [happy], [bunny1] and [lilbow]. He has yet to qualify for WCS though.
[xenocider]
[xenocider] is the biggest american talent at the moment. Though [masa] and [qxc] have been to strong in the WCS qualifiers yet, [xenocider] shows a strong performance after missing out tournaments for about six months.
[phog]
[phog] has paused in tournaments for a few months just like [xenocider] but then he came back he instantly proved to be the new nemesis for [catz], beating the Canadian at both IEM San Jose and the „32 Boys 1 Cup“ tournament.
