Evil Geniuses passes Team Secret to become the leader of the Dota 2 World Ranking once again after nine months. But there’s even more disturbance at the rankings top.
Evil Geniuses retake the top spot of the Dota 2 World Ranking in June 2016. They had been second to Team Secret for the past nine months. But while the former leader is ailing, the Americans from EG continue a very succesful run. Even with the new team – Aui_2000 and BuLba replaced UNiVeRsE and Arteezy – EG was third at the WePlay Dota League and fifth at Epicenter in Moscow.
OG, Team Liquid and MVP Phoenix reach new heigth in the Dota 2 World Ranking
Meanwhile Team Secrets results with the new roster are simply bad. They only played at Epicenter in May where Puppey and his team los all their matches, resulting in the last place of the LAN Finals and seventh overall. Secrets lead to the third placed Virtus.pro is huge though. If the team recovers from their current weakness, they won’t lose any more spots in the World Ranking.
But let’s turn to the teams that made a run towards the top this month: OG climbed to a new high in their history being the fourth most successful team right now. Epicenter-winner Team Liquid is sixth now and MVP Phoenix, the best team of the past three months, claims rank eight in June. MVP won the WePlay Dota League in May, OG the Dreamleague Season 5.
EHOME.cn is now the last chinese team left in the top10 of the Dota World Ranking. This is due to Vici Gaming losing five ranks and LGD Gaming dropping eight ranks out of the ten best teams. On the bright side Vici Gaming Reborn as 18th, Newbee as 21st and Wings Gaming as 23rd are close to entering the top10. Chinese Dota isn’t dead.
Watch out for these teams
A bit further down the road, there’s a few more teams to look out for that had a very successful month. In the order of their ranks, Shazam gained 20 spots and is 42nd now just ahead of No Diggity on rank 43 (+32). Shazam won the ProDota Cup America in May and was 11th at Epicenter missing the LAN Finals by a close margin. No Diggity benefited from the qualification for the DreamLeague Season 5 even though they were last at the LAN Finals.
With Team Bad English, Enemy and Team Freedom there are three squads that enter the top100 of the Dota 2 World Ranking for the first time in their history. They are now 81st, 85th and 87th respectively.
