Evil Geniuses remains the strongest Dota team in the world in February because Team Secret is struggling since the Frankfurt Major. They are even close to lose their spot to a chinese team.
Second at the Star Ladder Star Series Season 13, second at the MarsTV Dota 2 League Winter – even without a major title, Evil Geniuses proved this month why they are the strongest Dota team in the world for quite some time now. The Americans are just the most consistent of all top teams.
Team Secret is struggling
That used to apply to Team Secret as well, but the team that won almost everything in the Fall season is struggling in Winter. They haven’t been better than fifth at any tournament since the Frankfurt Major. Yet their points from the Fall season are enough to keep them on the second rank in the strength ranking.
This ranking differs from the World Ranking because it doesn’t count the success of the teams themselves but the individual success of all their members combined. This means that a newly created team can rank high if it is composed of players that were very successful in the recent past – even if this team has played few tournament together.
Team that stick together like Evil Geniuses prove to be more successful
That’s the reason why OG (rank 8) and Team Liquid (rank 9) for example are higher than they are in the Dota 2 Team World Ranking. But our strength ranking also shows that teams that stick together are much more successful. Behind Evil Geniuses and Secret there LGD Gaming, Vici Gaming and Virtus.pro – three more teams that didn’t change much of their lineip recently.
Noteworthy: [digitalchaos] is now the twelvth strongest Dota team since adding Resolut1on to its roster while Team Empire drops to rank 15 after losing the mentioned player. It will be interesting to see how this works out for both teams in the next tournaments.
