After more than five years of competitive Dota, Andreas ‚Cr1t-‚ Franck Nielsen has risen to the top and leads the Dota 2 World Ranking this month.
Cr1t- is the best player in our Dota 2 World Ranking in February 2017. The 20-year-old from Denmark earned his place by winning the Dota Pit League Season 5 with his new team Evil Geniuses. It’s already the third major title for Cr1t since his transfer from OG to EG. However he gained the majority of his ranking points while playing with the former in the past year. Cr1t has won eight major titles in his career, six of which still count for this months ranking.
EG-players dominate the top of the Dota 2 World Ranking
With this impressive record he beats KaKa. The chinese player drops to rank 2. This is partly because his team Newbee didn’t perform too well in January but partly also because his extraordinary successful month of January 2016 was erased when calculating the ranking. Back then, Kaka won one global tournament and a major tournament within just 28 days.
The further top of the Dota 2 World Ranking remains fairly unchanged. Kakas teammate kphoenii ist still third and EGs players like zai, Suma1L, UNiVeRsE and Arteezy occupy most of the top spots. In between are BigDaddy and FLY from OG. Their former teammate MoonMeander makes a comeback in the top 10: After winning ESL One Genting with his new team DigitalChaos, the 25-year-old Canadian returns to his former heights. Moonmeaner led the World Ranking in September and October together with his OG-comrades.
Wings Gaming on the verge, DC rising
Just below the top 10, the five chinese players of Wings Gaming await their entry into the top tier. Bian, [blink], iceice, [innocence (y`)] and Shadow are one of the few top-teams that play together for more than a year and thus occupy the same spot in the ranking – which is #11 at the moment. They passed Team Liquids JerAx this month.
MiSeRy, w33 and Saksa from DigitalChaos are among the high risers this month. This is no surprise since DC was the most successful team overall in January. Misery and w33 are now on rank 29, Saksa is on rank 49. This is by the way just one step ahead of the 17-year-old russian prodigy RAMZES666 who steps up the ranking even more this month due to his success with Virtus.pro at ESL One Genting and the Dota Pit League.
Valuable pickups wait in the top100
The top100 of the Dota 2 World Ranking also feature some teamless players who might be valuable pickups for top teams in the upcoming weeks. The best teamless player at the moment is Artstyle who last played for Natus Vincere followed by the currently inactive Hao. Other former chinese power players still in the ranking include the retired Mu and MMY. EG-alumni Fear can also be found there whereas his former teammate ppd retired from his retirement this month and plays for wanted now.
