Artour ‚Arteezy‘ Babaev is back on the top of the Dota World Ranking in March. He kicks Clement ‚Puppey‘ Ivanov off the top after six months. It might be a short reign though.
[arteezy] reclaims the top of the Dota World Ranking six months after losing the pole position to [puppey]. The [evil geniuses]-player benefits from the strength of his team. Together EG won the Captains Draft 3.0 in February resulting in a huge point boost for all players.
Technically Arteezy has to share first place with [zai] who is officially a substitute player of EG but hasn’t participated in any tournaments lately due to school. He hinted on his return in a few weeks though as his school time is almost over. We’ll see then if he still deserves a top rank.
Puppey drops in the Dota World Ranking
Former leader [puppey] meanwhile descends to rank 3 of the Dota World Ranking but that might be a short step down. Since the Estonian won the Shanghai Major today on his 26th birthday he might easily pass Arteezy in next months ranking and get back on the top spot again. Even if he doesn’t, Puppey is still the best Dota 2 player of all time, leading by quite margin ahead of [fear1].
The other player of EG including Fear follow on rank 4 of the World Ranking. They share the same amount of points and thus the fourth place because they have played together for all of the past 12 months now. [s4] from [alliance] on rank 8, [team liquid]s [kuroky] on rank 9 and [alohadance] from [team empire] on rank 10 are the only ones in the top10 that don’t play for either [team secret] or Evil Geniuses. Alohadance is new to the best ten this month, claiming the spot from [eternalenvy].
The chinese players struggle
As you may have noticed, no chinese player is among the top10 at the moment. The team of [lgd gaming] shares the 14th place. It’s a subtle hint on the decline of the chinese teams lately which was examplified at the Shanghai Major last week. Only [ehome.cn] played successfully lately, so [cty] and [lanm] gained a few ranks in the World Ranking, being 30th now.
Besides them it was the [vega squadron] which had a very successful February playing the second best tournament in their career at Captains Draft. Thus all team members rise significantly in the World Ranking. [cematheslayer], [noone] and [9pashaebashu] share the 52th rank now. That is the highest each of them has ever been.
Synderen gains the most ranks this month
The high flyers of the month are other players though: [synderen], back in the competitive scene after joining [steak gaming] gained 242 ranks in February, while his teammate [slickz] rose by 147 ranks. Between them is [mamas boys] [hook] with 170 ranks up. [thug] from the up and coming team [ad finem] improved 139 ranks.
